Phil slams Kerry's hubby

Kerrygate is rumbling on and on, with This Morning presenter Phillip Scofield dismissing Kerry Katona’s accusations that she was “ambushed” live on air.
Phil seemed to be implying that Kerry’s husband Mark Croft was to blame for the former Atomic Kitten singer’s slurring performance, which she attributed to the prescription drugs she’d been taking. “Unfortunately she set herself up, or she was set up by the person who brought her in,” he said. “In my mind she shouldn’t be paraded on television - she should be taken home and loved and cared for.”
“What I would have to say is that if you are concerned about your wife – as [Mark] obviously is – and you are the person who has accompanied her in a car to bring her into a television studio, and you notice that particular morning her medication or whatever is having an effect on her speech… you shouldn't bring her into the studio.”
He added that Kerry arrived very late, which meant producers didn’t have time to check she was fit for telly – and had they known about her condition, she would not have appeared on air. “The last thing I want to do is to witness a car crash in front of my eyes.”
And Croft’s eloquent response? "I'm not f***ing interested in what that f***ing idiot has to say,” he raged, speaking from the couple’s Cheshire home. He also issued a statement, saying, “She has always considered herself a friend of the show and appeared in good faith to talk about how positive she was feeling about her appearance. She left the show feeling very upset about her treatment."
Supermarket chain Iceland, whose TV ads Kerry fronts, have meanwhile issued a statement criticising her performance on the programme, but says she “remains under contract”. We wonder if that’s got anything to do with the fact that they’ve already taped their Christmas ad campaigns…
